Therapist Desiree A. Dalkiran

A Picture of Licensed Professional Counselor and EMDR Supervisor Desiree Dalkiran

Hi! I’m Desiree Dalkiran, and I’m so happy you found our website. I became a counselor because I am passionate about helping others improve their quality of life. Nothing is more rewarding to me than seeing others grow and thrive. I’m guessing you stumbled onto my site because you are aware of how hard life can be. I recognize that taking the chance to connect to someone can be a scary thing. I honor the bravery that it takes even to make this step to reach out to us. Therapy is an opportunity to let go of the stress of connecting and be able to explore yourself.

I believe we all have a unique culture, and understanding my clients’ culture is very important to me. Originally from this area, I know the unique culture that exists here. After moving away from Oregon following high school, I traveled the world extensively, including living in the Netherlands. Counseling is my third career, and I have a multifaceted background working with diverse populations from roofing to management, which impacts my work in this field. From all my travels and contacts with various cultures, I have developed the belief that humans, and everything they consist of, want to mend and heal. Though sometimes, the path to do that is not clear.

illustration of a triangular gray grid made out of dots

I received my Masters of Counseling from Arizona State University in 2015 and have worked in community mental health since 2016. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and Texas. I am an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider and an EMDR Certified Therapist and also a member of the American Counseling Association. My theoretical approach is from a biopsychosocial model that looked at the intersectionality of the physical body, the mental state, and social relationships to conceptualize the issues.

Additionally, I believe multicultural components and evaluation of the systems that clients are a part of our essential elements to understanding where clients have come from and the direction they would like to go. Some of the modalities used in my practice include EMDR, behavioral modification, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, CBT, Internal Family Systems, Emotional Freedom Technique, Emotion Focused Therapy, play therapy, and art therapy. In my experience, psycho-education can be an essential piece of allowing clients to feel empowered in their care, and I like to focus on education centering on brain development, brain function, and attachment.

I practice in Oregon as an LPC under license C5705. I am a Board Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors, ID #627085. I am required to follow mandated reporting laws in Oregon. At times I may seek consultation and supervision regarding particular situations or as I seek out continuing education. Information regarding the limitations to confidentiality will be provided to clients on an ongoing basis.

My work as a therapist includes providing support with creating meaning rather than feeling stuck searching for it, naming and shifting internal narratives, and identifying the tensions that result when our values and behaviors do not align. As we move through life, our relationships with ourselves and others inevitably change; naturally, these transitions are not always smooth or comfortable. I aim to help my clients see themselves in the larger contexts and systems in which we all collectively exist, to externalize and de-pathologize perceived individual challenges, and to deepen relational connections.

It is crucial that our work together be centered on your needs, beliefs, background, and culture(s). We cannot fully envision where we would like to go without solidly acknowledging where we come from, and there is no homogenized way to do this. I most prefer collaborative and transparent work and seek to create space for and work with whatever you choose to bring into our sessions.

I recognize and honor diversity and inclusion in my life and work. I am a part of the LGBTQIA2+ community and am happy to support trans and gender nonconforming humans with gender-affirming care, including letters of support. I am sex and kink positive, supportive of all relational styles, and am allied with sex workers. Social justice and mental health are inextricable to me, and my work as a therapist is and will always be rooted in the principles of accessibility and equity. With that said, I recognize my privilege as a white, able-bodied clinician and am committed to ongoing anti-racist and anti-oppression education and practices.

I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2018 from Vermont State University, and I have been working in mental health and social justice since 2015 in Vermont, Los Angeles, and Oregon. I also have photojournalism, studio, and fine art backgrounds and am a published writer and editor. I have additional degrees in anthropology, sociology, and art and am internationally certified to teach English as a foreign language. I have lived in the US, several countries in Western Europe, and Mexico, and completed portions of my graduate studies in Nicaragua, Ireland, and Russia. As such, pluralism and multiculturalism are built into and inform my theories and methodologies.

I am formally and comprehensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Art Therapy and facilitation. I have specialized training in Sex Therapy, as well as in working with people with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, ADHD, and autism. I have also spent all of my career working with individuals with dual diagnoses of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and mental health disorders. Based on the treatment plan you and I devise, we will mutually decide how to best point you toward your goals and what interventions feel most appropriate. I am most passionate about postmodern and existential humanistic theories and practices, and I also use psycho-education and practical skill-building in my work, as both are empowering and help to dismantle divisive power dynamics in counseling relationships. Humor, authenticity, creativity, and sincerity are indispensable to who I am and how I work.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon (C7242) and am a Clinical Supervisor on the Oregon candidate registry, and I must follow mandated reporting laws as per state regulations. At times I may seek consultation and supervision regarding particular situations or as I seek out continuing education. Information regarding the limitations to confidentiality will be provided to clients on an ongoing basis.

Therapist Molly Richards

Therapy can offer many things: support, coping skills, and (perhaps most importantly) a place to set down your “armor” and rest. Taking this step is a powerful act of self kindness and self advocacy. In therapy we will hold your unique story, needs, and strengths, and together create a path forward. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a place to cultivate trust and to experience acceptance and compassion.

I work with folks who want to develop greater connection to their true selves, and freedom from painful and binding patterns that have impacted their lives. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, holistic, and integrative. I use modalities including Existential, Person Centered, Somatics, and Internal Family Systems therapies, integrated with evidence based practices including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotional Freedom Technique.

I hold a Master of Counseling specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University. In addition to clinical applications, I have completed a social justice practicum which emphasized cultural humility and social justice as the foundation of ethical work in counseling. I am currently completing a certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Trauma Research Foundation. Through this, and collaboration with trauma informed yoga practitioners I have come to deeply respect the connection between body and mind, and the importance of working with the body to treat the effects of trauma. I believe that embodiment is a tool of personal healing, social justice and authentic living.

As a “second career” therapist, I bring a wide and curious sensibility to my work with clients. I often find my prior experience allows me to connect with clients at many stages of life. I am delighted that you are taking steps to begin therapy, and I can’t wait to meet you!

I am a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors. I practice in Oregon as an LPC Associate under license R8700. I am pursuing LPC licensure under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. I am required to follow mandated reporting laws in Oregon. At times I seek supervision or consultation and will provide information regarding the limits to confidentiality on an ongoing basis.

Mental health therapist and counselor Katrina Jones professional profile image at our clinic

Hello! I’m Katrina. I’m so happy you are here! Seeking therapy can be scary, but I believe it will change your life in the best way. I consider working with you an honor and a privilege. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bushnell University. I want to be in a space with you to witness your change, healing, and growth.

I believe that as people, we think, feel, behave and try to make meaning in life. If we can work together focusing on these different aspects of the concerns you are having now, I know you will find what you’re looking for from counseling. I use a Person-Centered approach which entails working with you and going to where you want to go in your sessions to begin your experience with counseling. I focus on processing and trusting that process to go deeper into self, life experiences, and developed patterns. I like to use different approaches that I can apply to each unique client.

I am interested in many different modalities of counseling. I have a special interest in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I incorporate Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Trauma Informed Therapy into sessions.

illustration of a triangular gray grid made out of dots

EMDR Therapy is also an area of interest for me. Positive Psychology is one focus of mine. I have experience with couples, families, and a generalized group of people.

Working in Multicultural Counseling, I have learned we all have cultures. Culture makes each of us unique. Respecting cultural differences as a counselor is imperative for me and my understanding of clients. I have experience working with people of color, differing sexual orientations, and disabilities. My client’s ages have ranged from 15-75, and I have developed an understanding of each age culture. The pieces of training I have received, and the continuous education that is awaiting will help me to apply your own specific culture into sessions as you need.

If you ask if I am the best match for you, I want to assure you that I will always be my authentic self so you can bring your authentic self to the session. I work to develop a connection with each of my clients that creates trust so I can make a safe place for you. I feel passionate about bringing compassion, care, and a non-judgmental space that will serve you. I always commit to bringing kindness to our sessions. As an attentive listener, I will have an understanding of you as a person. I will meet you where you are and have unwavering faith in you!

I am currently a Qualified Mental Health Professional and a Registered Associate. I am pursuing licensure under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. I follow the LPC code of ethics and am required to follow mandatory reporting laws in Oregon. At times I may seek supervision or consultation and will provide information regarding the limits to confidentiality on an ongoing basis.

I’m genuinely excited about the prospect of working with you on your journey of healing and growth. Together, I believe we can create meaningful change and contribute positively to developing a life worth living.

My professional journey is rooted in a deep passion for multiculturalism and advocacy for marginalized communities. I am a dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist, and my approach is enriched by a systems perspective. My academic background includes a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. I also pursued advanced studies at the University of Louisiana, where I explored the dynamics of supervision between African American therapists and White supervisors for my ABD in Marriage and Family Therapy. Although my dissertation remains a work in progress, my path has led me in new and exciting directions.

My work with you is based on a systemically oriented family therapy model with an emphasis on cultural diversity. Whenever possible, I seek to work with the entire family unit while simultaneously providing individual services to you. As a therapist who works with individuals and families, I take into consideration the complexity of your cultural identity development, which includes ability, gender, race, sexual orientation, preferred gender expression, and any other category of difference that you deem important.

In addition, I use a strength-based model that emphasizes your positive attributes, helping you to understand what is working in your life while simultaneously attempting to build resources to support you in the less productive areas of your life.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Oregon (T2308), and I must follow mandated reporting laws as per state regulations. At times, I may seek consultation and supervision regarding particular situations or as I pursue continuing education. Therapist Beth Halverson

Licensed Professional Counselor Beth Halverson

Welcome! I’m Beth, and I am grateful you are here to learn more about how counseling can support you. I believe we all deserve to know ourselves, heal from difficult moments, and develop a new truth. I utilize person-centered counseling to support the client, couple, or family system in determining their outlook for growth.

People who work with me develop a relationship with their inner selves: the pieces of them that create the whole of themselves. I have been trained in EMDR therapy, which allows the adaptive information processing center of the brain to turn tough experiences into adaptive futures.

illustration of a triangular gray grid made out of dots

I believe everyone should have access to this experiential type of therapy, which can promote your most aware, most integrated self. I also believe in the Collaborative Problem-Solving philosophy: we all want to do well, and when we can’t, something is getting in the way. I want to help clients find this barrier and learn to reframe it for themselves.

I grew up in Springfield in a low-income, strongly feminist household and have been a significant part of multi-generational interactions throughout my lifespan. Time in Arizona and Ohio taught me invaluable perspectives about what makes us all human. I have had the privilege of working with a vast array of people presenting with different diagnoses or problems that bring them to therapy. I am an adoptive parent and have taken extra training through Portland State University to support foster and adoptive systems.

My goal in our community is to build a strong sense of empathy for one another through our own healing. As someone who has walked that path through multiple experiences in counseling, I believe this can be achieved for anyone willing to look inward. I am a good match for clients who are interested in better understanding how their pasts affect their present. Thank you for starting your journey at Edify!

Therapist Rebecca Plant

Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Counselor Associate Rebecca Plant

To provide a brief overview of my background and identity, I would like to share that I grew up and spent my early adulthood in Fairbanks, Alaska, before relocating to Eugene, Oregon. Raised amid harsh winters, endless summer daylight, and a subsistence lifestyle, I now appreciate the diverse opportunities in the Pacific Northwest, including outdoor activities and cultural events in the arts and theater.

I began working at the age of thirteen and have since gained experience in retail, waitressing, and teaching dance/movement to individuals ranging from toddlers to older adults. I earned a degree and pursued a career in accounting, and I also hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health. As a Registered Associate, I am working toward my licensure with the Oregon Board of Licensed Counselors and Therapists under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Adhering to the LPC code of ethics, I am committed to mandatory reporting laws in Oregon.

illustration of a triangular gray grid made out of dots

My life experiences, coupled with my education in the arts and clinical mental health, have equipped me to meet you where you are in your journey. I offer tools and professional support as you navigate life’s changes and those moments when you may feel lost or unrecognized, even to yourself. I draw from various counseling theories, tailoring my approach to your unique learning pattern. Techniques I frequently employ include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), motivational interviewing, and existential or life purpose work, all grounded in the principles of Positive Psychology. I believe in harnessing your inherent strengths to find meaning, set goals, and tackle challenges. You can transcend barriers by forging a purposeful life and nurturing relationships with those who truly understand you.

Life is often likened to the changing seasons, each reflecting different facets of our human experience. Spring represents new growth and the challenges of starting afresh; summer offers a time to flourish and expand beyond our limits; fall symbolizes harvest as well as the shedding of the unnecessary; and winter often refers to trauma and loss, but also to rest and recuperation. I am ready to meet you in whichever season you find yourself.

Despite my optimistic nature, I recognize that everyone experiences pain. Familiar with suffering myself, I understand that as social creatures, we are not meant to endure our emotions—be it grief, anger, shame, joy, confusion, or doubt—alone. I am here to provide a safe space for you to express your experiences, dreams, aspirations, and life’s unexpected detours. Together, we can forge new narratives, devise solutions, learn about the body’s and brain’s response to experiences, and develop skills to manage the joys and challenges inherent in each season of life. I look forward to meeting you, learning about you, and accompanying you through the seasons of your life.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Welcome! It often takes significant courage to seek therapy, and I’m glad you’re here. My goal is to be your ally as we explore the meaningful change and healing you’d like to cultivate in your life.

Each person arrives in therapy with unique experiences and a distinctive story. I believe in a holistic approach that considers how our personal, psychosocial, and cultural backgrounds shape our beliefs, values, and lived experiences. Exploring these connections will help us form a roadmap for our work and develop treatment goals that align with your vision of well-being. I strive to create a warm, inclusive, and collaborative space where you’ll feel supported as you deepen your self-awareness. To every session, I bring genuine curiosity, openness, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach.

I firmly believe that healing doesn’t occur in isolation. It happens within the context of our communities and our relationship with the environment. This holistic perspective shapes my approach to therapy, where I strive to create a space that fosters connection and empowers individuals to thrive within their interconnected world.

I hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA. The program’s emphasis on Community Mental Health resonated with my desire to increase equitable access to mental health services. This passion was further fueled by my prior experience in sustainable agriculture and outdoor education. These experiences instilled in me a love for growth, connection, and the intricate ways we influence and are influenced by the systems around us.

My therapeutic approach is informed by Liberation Psychology, systems thinking, and social justice principles. I draw from a variety of counseling theories to best support my clients in reaching their goals. These include Trauma-Informed Care, strengths-based models, Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Eco-Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My love of the outdoors and belief in the healing power of nature are often woven into sessions through nature-based metaphors, mindfulness practices, and body-based approaches. I find my own healing by seeking out rivers, mountains, and birdsong whenever possible.

I am a Registered Associate working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I work under the supervision of a licensed practitioner and adhere to the LPC code of ethics. To best support you, there may be times when I seek supervision or consultation. As such, I will provide ongoing information regarding limits to confidentiality. I am also a Licensed Professional CoActive Coach (LPCC) and an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.

Administrator Sidney Carr

Experienced Admin Assistant at Edify Therapy – Compassionate Mental Health Support Team

Hello there! I’m Sidney, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the Administrative Assistant at Edify. I am originally from the scenic East Coast in Vermont, so relocating to Eugene was an exciting venture into uncharted territory for me. While Vermont’s natural beauty is truly spectacular, my desire to explore the West led me here.

Throughout my life, I’ve embraced a lifestyle rooted in organization and helpfulness, which makes me a natural fit for this career path. I take pride in my meticulous attention to detail, empathetic nature, and knack for optimizing processes. Although I may not be directly assisting you, I firmly believe that effective administration serves as the backbone of any successful endeavor. I’m wholeheartedly dedicated to supporting our therapists in their mission to assist you on your journey to well-being.

illustration of a triangular gray grid made out of dots

Beyond my desk duties, you’ll often find me curled up with a captivating book, immersed in a painting project, or embarking on a scenic hike along the numerous picturesque trails nearby. These activities rejuvenate me and keep me inspired. Given the chance, I cherish the prospect of immersing myself in the wonders of diverse cultures in new countries. It’s a dream of mine to explore and experience as many different cultures as possible, and I’m determined to check off as many countries as I can from my travel bucket list.

For several years, I held the same role at a small therapy office in Vermont where I learned that every person in the world grapples with their unique challenges. Connecting with someone who listens proved to be the most powerful form of healing. My travels across the United States, Europe, and India reinforced the idea that beneath our surface differences, we all share fundamental similarities. My ambition is to touch as many lives as possible, and this is just the beginning. I’ve set my sights on returning to school to become a speech pathologist and audiologist, with a focus on helping children who could benefit from my expertise.

I am genuinely thrilled to be part of the Edify Therapy team, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to get to know each and every one of you better. Together, we can make a positive impact and create a brighter future.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no such thing as no communication. For instance, even when we’re silent, we’re communicating something. Perhaps we are not in the mood for a talk that speaks for itself, doesn’t it? On the other hand, when we are in an exploratory mood, we ask questions. As a result, our intellectual capacity increases.

Questions are what makes us thrive, ask, and we will search and find an answer together.

illustration of a triangular gray grid made out of dots

Clients feel comfortable talking with their therapists most of the time. Sometimes, though, it might not feel right. It might not be easy, but it is worth speaking directly to your therapist to let them know you are interested in changing therapists. Although we don't get mad or offended when clients wish to change therapists for their reasons, it can be helpful to discuss your concerns with them to find the best way to help you.

Therapists usually meet with clients once a week or every two weeks. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, as each client's needs and goals will be different. Some therapies require sessions every day!

Expect your first experience at the therapist's office to be like a doctor's visit. When you arrive, you will need to sign in, wait in the waiting area, and wait for someone else to call.
